FAQ - Care Packages

Care Packages - Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does Bulldog Baskets coordinate delivery with my student's class schedule?
UGA Housing policy allows Bulldog Baskets to deliver our packages to the housing community desk (usually in every dorm, and manned 24 hours a day). This provides safety for your student and convenience for everyone. There is rarely anything that requires coordination and that is why delivery is FREE!

2. How is my student notified of his or her Bulldog Basket Care Package?
Usually, via phone. Please have your student's cell phone number ready when you call to place your order. A Bulldog Baskets staff member will call your child and notify him of package delivery. We will be glad to call a cellphone or dorm/apartment phone number. The UGA Housing desk staff will leave a message for your student on his dorm phone number ONLY. Your student must present his or her student ID to claim the package.

3. My student didn't receive her Bulldog Basket care package. What now?
This rarely happens! Call us! We hopefully can confirm delivery to the correct dorm and will call the residence hall desk to determine if the package was logged in correctly. We will also determine if the package was not picked up. We are always glad to follow up (again!) with your student if necessary. Sometimes, students forget to pick up their packages right away. Also, freshman get confused about the mailroom and front desk! We try to use the correct terminology to eliminate confusion. For almost every residence hall, we deliver to the Front Desk.

Please ask your student if she has received anything special that day. Sometimes our phone calls go unanswered because they don't recognize our phone number on their caller ID. Also, students just don't check their messages--imagine that?!

In our nine years of business, only two packages have been stolen (out of more than 10,000 care packages!) Bulldog Baskets will replace a stolen care package at no cost to you. We will also replace a care package that was "mis-delivered" at no cost to you.

4. What information does Bulldog Baskets need when I call?
Your student's name, address, and PHONE NUMBER! On your first order, we will also ask for your name, address, home phone number and credit card information. Also, plan what you'd like to say on the gift enclosure card.

5. Are the birthday cakes homemade? Who makes them?
YES! Buttons works very hard in the kitchen all day, just kidding. We have contracted with a local, licensed bakery. Cakes are baked and iced on the day of the delivery and they are delicious!

6. Do plates, napkins and a knife come with the cake?
Yes! Ten plates and napkins as well as a small plastic knife come with the cake.

7. Why are several of your products used in packages throughout the year?
We use two products all year long-the Party Mix and Bulldog Bits Chocolate Chip Cookies. These products are exceptionally tasty and everyone loves them! We add seasonal products to these and wa-la: a care package is born!

8. You deliver to free of charge to sorority houses. Why charge for fraternity house delivery?
Sorority houses always have a house mother on duty and their parking lots usually have a security agent present. Secondly, it's easy to find a girl willing to deliver the package to the recipient's room if she is not there or leave it in a secure common area. We then leave a message with the recipient regarding her package.

Fraternity house deliveries are coordinated just like off campus deliveries--we simply cannot leave a package on a doorstep! Fraternity houses do not employ housemothers and are usually left open during the day. It would not be safe to ask our delivery person to walk in an open house unsure of who is inside. We know that the members are very nice young men, but at times fraternity houses have had a problem with vagrants wandering on their premises.
